Pain in your bladder, pressure in your pelvis. Disruptive, uncomfortable, and illusive to treatment. Arvigo® Maya Abdominal Massage can help! Usually I try to come up with more creative titles for my blog posts, but for a condition that can be mystifying I figured a little straight-shooting was in order here.

Interstitial cystitis (IC), also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), is a chronic pain disorder that falls under the even broader umbrella of chronic pelvic pain. The primary symptoms are
Pain in the pelvis in the perineum (the area between the anus and the genitals)
Pain behind the pubic bone
Bladder or pelvic pressure
Urinary frequency and urgency (an intense need to pee even if you just went)
Nighttime urination/nocturia
Pain with sex
One of the most frustrating things about this condition is that it is idiopathic, or of unknown origin. As such, diagnosis is typically accomplished through exclusion.
If you are living with IC, you probably already know these things. You’re living with it! What you really want to know is how to fix it, right? IC may resolve on its own, but without knowing the cause, it is difficult to determine a true cure or what to do to encourage spontaneous remission. Your urologist might suggest medications, surgery, pelvic floor PT (if you are lucky), or dietary changes. Google will happily provide you with information on all of these traditional tactics. But let’s talk about one your doctor probably won’t mention and even omniscient Google will only produce if looking for it specifically.
Massage! While there is currently no research on the effects of external massage on PBS, thousands of women and men have reported immense relief from symptoms with abdominal massage. The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® is an external massage focused entirely on your core. It works by promoting optimal blood and lymph circulation, nerve conduction, and structural alignment through the abdominopelvic cavity all of which encourage proper organ positioning. Self care is a huge part of this process, so you are also taught the self massage protocol during your initial visit. Imagine. With just a few massage strokes you can stop doing the potty dance every five minutes. Sit and walk without constant, nagging pain. Have sex that feels good!
Does that scenario sound like a perfect dream? Book your initial Integrate Arvigo® Therapy session today! Know someone who this article could help? Pass it along! Also check out why Everybody Needs a Belly Rub.
